Our 2nd In Your Home location is in Eugene, which is owned and Operated by Kim Darden. Kim contacted In Your Home Portland shortly after earning her Executive Certificate in Home Modifications through the Ethel Percy Andrus Gerontology Center at University of Southern California in 2011. While learning about how Home Modifications can be implemented in one of the courses, In Your Home was featured as a business making a positive impact and leading the way in Home Modifications. Kim was certain that the close proximity was more than a coincidence and knew that she had to contact In Your Home. For more than a year Kim got to know the team at In Your Home and they her. They grew to have a mutual respect for each other's steadfast belief in doing the right thing for the right reasons and genuine passion about making a difference in peoples' lives. On October 1st, 2012, Kim became the first franchise location of In Your Home.
A 3rd generation Eugenean, Kim graduated from Sheldon High School in 1991 and went on to graduate from Oregon State University in 1996. With such deep local roots, Kim always had a lot of family in town and she spent time at the homes of family of all ages and abilities. Kim remembers her grandparents having to move into town away from the family farmhouse that her grandfather had built, on the road her grandmother had named, McKenzie View Drive, because the house was too difficult for her grandfather to get around in. The move was a difficult experience for the entire family as it changed the way the family gathered from then on. Looking back, Kim realized that this was the first of many experiences in her life that instilled a passion in her to help find a solution for families who needed their home modified to suit their changing abilities.
With her experience in remodeling and maintaining rental properties, Kim realized an aptitude for this line of work. Wanting to pursue a career she was passionate about, Kim started looking into the thing that for such a long time had been in the back of her mind; Home Accessibility. Kim knew that establishing a business that provided knowledgeable, trustworthy solutions for what people really wanted and needed was what she was intended to do. Finding the right partner who shared her vision was the key to making this vision a reality. When Kim found In Your Home, she knew it was meant to be. Kim has been supported in this venture by her husband Kelly and that extended Eugene family who are just as excited as she is to see this dream become a reality and have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community she adores.
